Recipes that Make the Grade

· Essential Oils

Anticipation, excitement, and anxious feelings are only three of a litany of possibilities describing how students feel about going back to school. Getting our heads into the game this year will look different as learning takes on new forms during this season, so let’s creatively use our oils to rise to the challenge. Along with pencils and pens, line up your bottles of Peppermint, Clementine, and Rosemary to help create an atmosphere conducive to focus and clarity. Why these oils? Peppermint and Clementine provide a much-needed breath of confidence, optimism and alertness, while Rosemary is more centering and grounding. That being said, your oil collection is versatile; and many of them can achieve similar effects. Line up the ones you have!

Teachers, you serve your students day in and day out - we know you don't stop thinking and caring about your students just because the clock strikes dismissal time. You'll be needing strong support in the areas of both motivation and relaxation. Prep for the first day of instruction and beyond with the following recipe.

To create your very own Midday Motivation Wrap, you’ll need:

Tube sock or dress sock

3 cups flaxseed or rice

2-3 drops desired dōTERRA® essential oils

Pour preferred filling, flaxseed or rice, into the sock and knot the end. For those with sewing abilities, use desired fabric and sew into desired shape. To use your wrap, warm it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes total (adjust power setting as necessary). To avoid burns, begin with 1 minute; then increase by 30-second increments until wrap reaches ideal temperature. Alternatively, you could heat the wrap in an oven-safe dish at 150 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Check frequently, and let it rest until cool enough to handle comfortably. Add a few drops of essential oil to the wrap’s outer fabric (the earthy citrus mint trio mentioned earlier works well). Place warmed wrap on or around the neck, and relax!

Share this wrap recipe with a special teacher in your life, or better yet, put those sewing abilities to use and kick off the year with a teacher gift. End of year teacher gifts are more traditional, but this isn’t exactly the most traditional school year to date, is it?

Students, those of you who will be toting supplies to and from school know that a pristine backpack gleaming with off-the-shelf newness lasts only so long. Whether you're a kindergartener, college student, or brave adult pursuing continuing education, enough weeks of wear and tear will strip that beloved book carrier of its sheen. When your bag begs for a break, give it a dōTERRA®-styled Backpack Pick-Me-Up. First, locate the innermost zippered pocket. After cleaning any obvious gunk out of the mesh lining, place within it a cotton ball that's been kissed with a few drops of cleansing or calming essential oils. Again, your Peppermint, Clementine and Rosemary are great choices here; but you could also go for something exotic and different like rich, calming Vetiver or sweetly floral Ylang Ylang.

As the academic year begins in a whole new way, it’s a great time to intentionally incorporate essential oils into our educational landscapes. With Peppermint, Clementine, Rosemary, and other motivating oils at your side, you can promote an uplifting environment that encourages both teachers and students in their noble endeavors.
