Gifts that Nurture

broken image

With an upcoming day in May set aside to show special honor to our mothers, it’s a wonderful time to think about the hope and healing women extend to their families every day. Whether you go by the name Mom, Mum, Mama, or something else entirely, it’s your nature to nurture; and you deserve thanks for that role.

In Hawaiian culture and language, the word malama means to care for, tend, preserve, and protect. This concept applies to conserving the natural beauty of the vibrant Hawaiian Islands, and also to the care that mothers offer their children every moment of every day.

This is a perfect time to gift dōTERRA® Malama Nurturing Blend to honor those who preserve and protect life. Here’s a brief profile of this packed-out blend, with almost too many oils to list: Wild Orange, Cedarwood, Coriander, Lemongrass, Magnolia, Amyris, Ylang Ylang, Sichuan Pepper, Bucchu, Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Naio wood combine to create a vivacious, rich aroma that sparkles with citrus, floral, and wood all at once! A bottle of Malama Nurturing Blend with an aesthetic diffuser makes for an easy, beautiful gift for any mom in your life.

Speaking of gifts for moms, if you happen to find yourself in baby shower season, I have a couple of basic baby product recipes to share with you. We live in an era when the idea of decreasing our dependence on store-bought products is on the rise, and this first recipe for homemade wipes will appeal to practical women who like to go natural and make some of their own products.

To create Nurturing Baby Wipes, you’ll need:

• 1 roll premium paper towels

• 2 cups warm water

• 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil

• 3 drops Lavender oil

• 3 drops Tea Tree oil

• 1 airtight storage container

First, cut paper towel roll in half with a serrated knife, creating two shorter rolls. One will be used now and the other can be used later, after you’ve had a chance to put these homemade wipes to the test and are ready for round two. Place one of the cut paper towel rolls on its end in a storage container that fits it well. Add the water and oil mixture. Turn the paper towel roll until most all of the liquid is absorbed. Carefully lift out the inner cardboard roll and discard/recycle it. Pull wet wipes from the center as needed, being sure to close the container tightly after each use. To adapt this recipe to be used on the go, move some of the wipes to a zippered bag specifically intended to hold wet items.

Next, mix up a super easy Pacifying Baby Balm using:

• 1/2 cup unrefined coconut oil

• 30 drops Lavender oil

• four-ounce glass jar

Measure out your unrefined coconut oil, which may be solid or liquid, depending on temperature. Add Lavender oil, adjusting the amount of drops as desired. Note: one 15 mL dōTERRA bottle contains somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 drops, so 30 drops won’t deplete your supply as quickly as it may sound. However, this recipe will work just fine with fewer drops of oil, if you need to conserve. Stir well, then pour the mixture into a clean, small jar with a snug-fitting lid.

Every mom knows that her little ones can feel uncomfortable at times with all that diapering, so she’ll thank you for this one! It’s no accident that sweet, calming Lavender appears in both recipes. Lavender is one of the most nurturing gifts of nature, and it’s such a sweet aroma to keep in your bag of tricks for soothing little ones. To the women who care for, tend, preserve, and protect life — in the spirit of malama — thank you.
